Hi,
In a previous post I wrote about sites offering free domain names and I said I would write about some of the sites that I have used. Today I'm going to write about www.co.cc which offers domains in the format www.something.co.cc for free so long as it's not used for commercial websites.
Their site can be a bit confusing to navigate and there are a number of annoying adverts, however once you have created an account and registered a domain it is fairly quick to setup, and you get a number of different ways to set it up.

Continuing on my web design theme for blog posts I am now going to write about Link Exchange systems, and x10Exchange in particular.
First, what is a link exchange? Well basically it is a way of generating traffic for you site, it involves placing an ad on your site in return for which your ad it placed on other sites. The simplest form of Link Exchange is a one-to-one system, where you place a link to a particular site on your site, and your link is placed on this other site. However this can be time consuming and complicated to set up, as you need to contact each site owner to arrange the link exchange.

When designing a website there are many things to think about, the layout, the content and the theme for example. But there are other equally important things to be considered. One of these is the domain name, the thing that visitors will have to enter into their address bar to access your site.
In this and following blog posts I will discuss the two main providers of free domains as well as briefly touch on what a domain is, the different ways that they can be set up and some of the things that should be considered when choosing a domain for your site.

Hi,
I have decided to try the dot.tk domains names out to see if they suit my site better. So, for now at least, the URL for this blog is http://techash.tk, although the old co.cc URL will still work.
The main reason for me trying the .tk address is that I want to see if it is more reliable than co.cc, as I have had some problems with co.cc in the past. Also co.cc addresses are blocked at my school. If all goes to plan I may move all my sites over to .tk addresses.
I will write a blog entry about my findings sometime soon |
