OpenDNS is a free service (You can pay for more advanced features) that provides a fast and reliable DNS service along with website filtering and protection from some botnets. I have been using it for a while now and find it extremely useful.

In this blog post I am going to write about a site called CAcert which I have been using or around a year. (Note this post assumes that you already have experience with setting up a server). They offer free SSL certificates valid for 6 months, and you can have as many as you like. However there is a catch... the certificates are not recognised as valid by many of the internet browsers, but this can be solved by asking your visitors to import CAcert's root certificate which only takes a couple of seconds.

I'm sorry for the recent unexpected downtime. This was caused by problems that my hosting provider has been having, and required my server to be moved to a new datacentre, and this in turn led to problems with changing the IP address. Needless to say it has been causing me a lot of problems over the last couple of day, but now everything is back online and hopefully running smoothly.
