GiffGaff. Lets start with the prices. GiffGaff is a pay as you go network, meaning no contracts to get locked into (Although if you need unlimited texts etc. you can buy a GoodyBag, which I'll talk about later). Their base prices are 4p/text and 8p/per min calls, which is much cheaper than most UK networks. However it gets better. If your friends are also on GiffGaff you can talk and text for Free! and until February you get free mobile Internet. If that doesn't sound like a good deal I don't know what does. If you are fond of some of the perks of a mobile contract such as unlimited texts then GiffGaff has an interesting idea. You can buy monthly Goodybags which are basically a 30-day contract that can include things like free minutes, texts and mobile internet. These are great for those of you who want the benefits of a contract with out being locked into the deal for 1 or 2 years. The low prices do come at a cost, and this is most noticeable when you need help. Most support is provided by other users, GiffGaff do not have a call centre, and whilst this means you usually get answers fast, the quality of the answers vary. Sometime you get answers like "I'm sorry I can't help you" which isn't exactly helpful. I think the reason for this is that GiffGaff rewards users for responding to questions and this encourages users to post a reply even if they cannot actually help. I said at the start of the post that GiffGaff is run by its members. This means that they consult with you on all their major decisions, and if you have a idea, then they want to hear it. This has led to many interesting features being added to the network and website, for example the Goodybags. I have been using GiffGaff for several months, and I can say for certain that it is the best mobile network I've come across so far. I would strongly recommend that you give it a go. You can get more information from their website http://giffgaff.com or order a free SIM card with £5 free credit here. |
