Link Exchange

Continuing on my web design theme for blog posts I am now going to write about Link Exchange systems, and x10Exchange in particular.

First, what is a link exchange? Well basically it is a way of generating traffic for you site, it involves placing an ad on your site in return for which your ad it placed on other sites. The simplest form of Link Exchange is a one-to-one system, where you place a link to a particular site on your site, and your link is placed on this other site. However this can be time consuming and complicated to set up, as you need to contact each site owner to arrange the link exchange.

This is where systems like x10Exchange come in, they simplify the process whilst also allowing for you ad to be placed on many many more site. You sign up for the link exchange, put the code on your site and upload your banner, then sit back and watch your traffic stats rise. Well that's the theory anyway. In practice it depends on how may other users the exchange system has, the more users the more sites your ad can be shown on. However these link exchange systems often use a credit type system where your ad is only shown if you are showing ads on your site. So if your site doesn't have that many hits, your ad won't be shown many times, however the more hits on your site you get the more your ad will be shown and the more traffic you will get.

x10Exchange is the Link Exchange system run by x10Hosting staff members. It is completely free to join, and very simple to set up. The only problem is that the site design can seem a bit messy and hard to understand, but you will get use to it. Also it seems to have become less active recently with relatively few ad impressions, so it could really do with some new users to help get things moving.

So if you are interested in generating a bit of extra free traffic for you site I think that x10Exchange would be a good place to start.
