In a previous post I wrote about sites offering free domain names and I said I would write about some of the sites that I have used. Today I'm going to write about www.co.cc which offers domains in the format www.something.co.cc for free so long as it's not used for commercial websites.

Their site can be a bit confusing to navigate and there are a number of annoying adverts, however once you have created an account and registered a domain it is fairly quick to setup, and you get a number of different ways to set it up.

You can choose between URL redirection, DNS records and Name Servers, which I discussed in my previous post. They also provide an optional secure online shop for you to sell products.

There is a limit to the number of domains you can register, which it current set a 3 per account. But if you need more than that you can just create a new account with a different email address and register 3 more domains. Also you have to remember to 'renew' your domain each year or it'll be deleted. I have also had some reliability problems with their system, however these have only been minor problems that were resolved quickly.

So, to conclude, www.co.cc, although a bit confusing can be very useful and is well worth a look.
