Free Domains: Dot.tk
Friday, 19 March 2010 20:03

Hi,

About a month ago I wrote about www.co.cc a websites that provided free domain names. Today I'm going to follow up by writing about another service called Dot.tk. Dot.tk is very similar to co.cc except that the domains it gives away are proper domains whereas co.cc gives away sub-domains. Dot.tk have all the normal methods for setting up your domain and a number of nice features including a mail service, a URL shorterner and a free advertising network.

CAcert.org - Free SSL Certificates

Hi,

In this blog post I am going to write about a site called CAcert which I have been using or around a year. (Note this post assumes that you already have experience with setting up a server). They offer free SSL certificates valid for 6 months, and you can have as many as you like. Hi,

In a previous post I wrote about sites offering free domain names and I said I would write about some of the sites that I have used. Today I'm going to write about www.co.cc which offers domains in the format www.something.co.cc for free so long as it's not used for commercial websites.

Their site can be a bit confusing to navigate and there are a number of annoying adverts, however once you have created an account and registered a domain it is fairly quick to setup, and you get a number of different ways to set it up.

When designing a website there are many things to think about, the layout, the content and the theme for example. But there are other equally important things to be considered. One of these is the domain name, the thing that visitors will have to enter into their address bar to access your site.

In this and following blog posts I will discuss the two main providers of free domains as well as briefly touch on what a domain is, the different ways that they can be set up and some of the things that should be considered when choosing a domain for your site.

x10Hosting

Ok, so this is my first real blog post and I have decided to write about x10Hosting. They are a web host providing both free and paid services.

For those of you unfamiliar with web design and web hosting, a web hosting company is a company that provide web space for your websites to allow visitors to access it, and in my opinion x10Hosting is one of the best around. Now I am an Administrator for x10Hosting, so perhaps I'm biased, but the shear number of users x10Hosting has speaks for itself, there are literally thousands of people using x10Hosting.
